The Relay event is a unique event where people who have had, still have, or have died of cancer are supported, loved, and commemorated.
During the event, they usually start off with the Survivor's Lap. All cancer survivors take a lap around the track to celebrate their victory against cancer, while being cheered on by their loved ones on the sidelines.
After dark, the Luminaria Ceremony takes place. This ceremony remembers and honors the members who have lost to cancer, and support those who are still fighting.
The most powerful ceremony, though, is the Fight Back Ceremony. During this ceremony, Relay participants are inspired to take action and realize their emotional commitment to their loved ones who need their support to keep fighting.
Now, Relay for Life is a worldwide phenomenon, raising almost $5 billion to the fight against cancer.
